We are living in a world where everyone wants to show power, to prove they are right and to win arguments. In the early young age everyone is driven by the ego. So proving your point is considered as a matter of prestige. That’s why most of the time you will see young people arguing to prove his point. As we grow by age that argument disappear and silence becomes much more important than proving a point. With age we realize that proving a point may satisfy the ego for a moment, but silence preserves peace, dignity and inner strength for a lifetime.

1-Maturity Means Letting Go of Ego:

Our ego leads us to involve in argument and during argument we completely ignore the truth. When you are very young or inexperienced you always driven by ego and you feel the need to defend yourself at every point of life. This is because as a young person this is the only way to show your power. With time you become matured enough and understand that every battle or everyone not necessarily need your attention. You understand that silence is much more important than involving yourself in unnecessary conflict. This is only the waste of time and energy. So letting go your ego is the best option to avoid unnecessary problems in life.

2-Not Every Opinion Deserves a Response:

Many times people speak anything whatever in their mind. That has no connection with facts and logics. At that time you should understand that responding to such opinion is only waste of your time and energy. You should value your peace without involving in such pointless debates. Many persons think choosing silence to such stupid argument is a sign of weakness but the real truth is it is a sign of inner strength.

3-Silence Protects Relationships:

You should know that relationship may be affected if you become very hard on proving your point at any cost. The other person may feel insulted or less valued. Many times debates become unnecessary arguments and that leads to the break of many old friendships, family ties and even partnerships. On the other hand silence builds a great connections and it also shows respect for the other person even if you disagree. 4-Peace is More Valuable Than Victory:

If you want to win an unnecessary arguments then it is not worth winning. It gives you only temporary satisfaction and may steal your mental peace instead. You should choose peace of mind instead of argument. Because peace of mind is long lasting. Be mature enough to know that inner peace matters more than proving who is write or wrong. This will do nothing harm but instead it will keep your dignity intact.

You must have seen many people only talks without listening what other people is talking. True wise person choose to listen more and speak less. In silence you will be able to observe deeply and your response will be very thoughtful. Silence helps you not to react emotionally and your respond will add values. People generally do not respect the person who talks too much. People give respect the person who is calm and whose words add values. The person who do not react but respond in a positive ways gains much more attention and respect in life.

6-Energy Conservation:

Argument is a very energy consuming process. This will consume your mental, emotional and even physical energy. If you choose silence over the unnecessary argument then you can save that energy consumption. You can use this energy for your growth, learning and some positive productivity. True maturity knows where to invest this energy very wisely.

7-Silence Can Be More Powerful Than Words:

Often people think saying louder in an argument make them winner. But the reality is just opposite. The person who is silent in an argument wins the argument. When he speaks everyone eager to listen him. This is the true power of silence. Maintaining silence gradually grows your confidence, patience and self-control. People often remember your silence over an argument longer than your words in that argument.

8-Proving a Point Rarely Changes Minds:

Generally most of the argument you are involved is not about truth. All these are fact less and baseless arguments. These are only clashes of egos. Many times this happens even if you prove your point, the other person may not accept it. Then the total argument of you become waste of time and energy. This is an endless cycle and only silence can avoid this. Silence can keep your dignity safe.
